Four Bar Link Mechanism Lab Manual Engineering Dynamics

Experiment No.4
Objective:
To perform four Bar Link Mechanism.
Apparatus:
Connecting Rod, Crank.
Procedure:
Set the equipmwnt for the experiment of four linked bar mechanism.
Adjust the angle of the circle of the crank at zero degree and measure the corresponding value of angle on the 2nd scale.
Twist the angle of the circle at 20° and measure the value of angle in degree on the 2nd scale.
Repeat the above process by increasing 20° of the angle of circle until 360° and plot a graph b/w both the angular measurements.
Theory:
Four bar link mechanism:
A four bar link mechanism also called four bar linkage, is the simplest movable closed chain linkage.
It consists of four bodies called bars or links , connected in a loop by four joints, generally, the joints are configured so the links move in parallel planes, and the assembly is called a planer link bar.
A four-bar linkage, also called a four-bar, is the simplest movable closed chain linkage. It consists of four bodies, called bars or links, connected in a loop by four joints. Generally, the joints are configured so the links move in parallel planes, and the assembly is called a planar four-bar linkage.
If the linkage has four hinged joints with axes angled to intersect in a single point, then the links move on concentric spheres and the assembly is called a spherical four-bar linkage. Bennett's linkage is a spatial four-bar linkage with hinged joints that have their axes angled in a particular way that makes the system movable
