They are looking for two highly motivated scientists to join their group to understand the mechanism of chromosome segregation in the kinetoplastid parasite Trypanosoma brucei. The aim of the project is to characterise one or more kinetoplastid kinetochore proteins in Trypanosoma brucei using a variety of techniques including cell biology, biochemistry, biophysics, structural biology and/or mathematical modelling.
Your skills and attributes for succes for Postdoctoral Research: A PhD in biological science
Proven track record of high-quality research in cell biology, protein biochemistry, or related field
Experience in cell biology, biochemistry, biophysics, structural biology and/or mathematical modelling
An ability to work independently as well as in a research team
A desire to learn new techniques and to make discoveries
Your skills and attributes for success for PhD :
A Bachelor's degree in biological science

Main responsibilities
1. Gathering research data using defined methods and running analyses/interpreting data using specified and agreed techniques/models; provide technical support to group members and maintain laboratory records. (65%)
2. Be responsible for laboratory orders, health and safety records and risk assessments. (15%)
3. Assist with supervision of student projects and/or instruction of students (and other research group members) in the use of equipment/demonstration of techniques. (10%)
4. Contribute to the production of research reports and publications (5%)
